Solar charging
The tasks described in this section may only be carried out by a qualified electrician. |
Requirements:
The product is connected to an external energy meter via Modbus RTU and correctly configured. The energy meter captures the excess electricity from the photovoltaic system.
Solar charging is activated.
The product has 3 charging modes (Standard mode, Sunshine mode, Sunshine+ mode).
Standard mode
Charging occurs at maximum power. Mains power is used for charging unless there is a sufficient amount of excess energy.
Sunshine mode
The charging power is dependent on the excess energy from the photovoltaic system. Solar energy exclusively is used for charging. The charging process starts if there is a sufficient amount of energy available to charge the vehicle at 6 A per phase.
Sunshine+ mode
The charging power is dependent on the excess energy from the photovoltaic system. Regardless of how much current the photovoltaic system is feeding at the time, the vehicle is provided with minimum charging current at all times (if necessary through mains power). The minimum charging current (standard: 6 A per phase) can be adjusted using the configuration tool (a qualified electrician is required).
Special features of the 11 kW variant
The 11 kW variant supports single-phase and three-phase solar charging processes. Therefore, optimum use of both, underperforming and high-performing photovoltaic systems, is ensured. The charging station can also dynamically switch between single-phase and three-phase solar charging. The following settings can be made for the 11 kW variant (the configuration tool is required to change the setting):
- Single-phase solar charging (standard setting):
Single-phase charging occurs in Sunshine mode and Sunshine+ mode exclusively. Charging starts at 1.4 kW of excess energy and this can be raised to a max. of 3.7 kW. - Three-phase solar charging:
Three-phase charging occurs in Sunshine mode and Sunshine+ mode exclusively. Charging starts at 4.2 kW of excess energy and this can be raised to a max. of 11 kW. - Dynamic switchover between single-phase and three-phase solar charging:
Dynamic switchover between single-phase and three-phase charging occurs while charging in Sunshine mode or Sunshine+ mode. Charging starts at 1.4 kW of excess energy and this can be raised to a max. of 11 kW.
The automatic phase change has been implemented according to the procedure of CharIN. Compatiblity with all vehicles on the market cannot be ensured by MENNEKES. In some cases, the charging process could be aborted or the vehicle or wallbox could sustain damage. |
Special features of the 22 kW variant
Solar charging starts at 4.2 kW of excess energy and this can be raised to a max. of 22 kW.
